Frederick J. Sheridan
Frederick J. Sheridan July 19, 2011 Frederick J, Sheridan, 79, of Howlett Hill, passed away Tuesday at Francis House. A lifelong resident of Howlett Hill, he was a 1949 graduate of Marcellus Central High School. A 1953 graduate of Le Moyne College, he played basketball for four years under coach and mentor Thomas Niland. Fred was a teacher and guidance counselor at Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District for 32 years and also worked in the Admissions Office at OCC for 10 years. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church for 55 years, where he was a Eucharistic minister, member of the R.C.I.A., Funeral Luncheon Guild, Holy Name Society and Golf League. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Christopher and Margaret Sheridan; sister, Christine Hunt; infant daughter, Rosemary Sheridan; infant son, Frederick Sheridan; and son, Michael J. Sheridan. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, the former Patricia McCormick; daughters, Nancy M. Spencer and Mary A. (Thomas) Kane, both of Syracuse; sons, Christopher F. (Diane) Sheridan of Corona, CA, Daniel P. (Sharon) Sheridan of Midlothian, TX, Timothy J. (Diane) Sheridan of New Port Richey, FL, Thomas P. (Susan) Sheridan of Trumansburg, NY, and Peter J. Sheridan of Evergreen, CO; grandchildren, Ryan (Lindy) Sheridan and Kelly (Joseph) Kulm, both of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Patrick, Matthew and Nathan Sheridan of Midlothian, TX, Elizabeth and Peter Sheridan of New Port Richey, FL, Zachary (Helena) Sheridan of Charlottesville, VA, Gabrielle Spencer of Syracuse, Brian Sheridan of Trumansburg, NY, and Alexander and Jillian Kane of Syracuse; brother, James (Anne) Sheridan of Howlett Hill; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Fred will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
