Mailing for Reunion

A fairly sizable mailing has gone out for those without emails and to those who have never responded to emails and to those I thought might not read emails. Hope a hard copy does the trick.

Frank Carroll

Frank's out in CA trying to straighten out his rental situation. His tenant stopped paying rent so he had to head out there and clear things up. Turns out, there's a bit of maintenance that has to be done so he'll be out there for awhile.

Donations

To all classmates planning to attend Reunion 45

Please consider donating some cash for the reunion for operating expenses.
  • postage for mailings to people without email
  • cost of website
  • supplies like nametags
  • directory printing
  • tribute display -photos

You can make donations through the Reunion website. Just look for the donation page. There is a process and transaction fee on all credit cards. If you'd like to mail a check to me that is fine too.

There have been a couple of generous classmates, but I would hope many of you will also help out.

Reunion 45

Favors are OUT for the reunion. Absolutely everyone who responded said NO. None of us need anymore extra stuff.

Phil Evans

Just got back a week ago from a trip over to Italy and visiting several countries around the Mediterranean. Enjoyed Rome, Tuscany, and particularly Italy's western seacoast.

Marlo Thomas in St. Louis

Actress Marlo Thomas poses with husband Phil Donahue during a book signing party in St. Louis on October 27, 2010. In her new autobiography, 'Growing Up Laughing: My Story and the Story of Funny,' the actress recalls her father, Danny Thomas, and his comedian friends. Thomas, who is active with the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis also used her time to talk about how her father, actor Danny Thomas founded the hospital. UPI/Bill Greenblatt

What to do if your wallet goes missing.

From AARP Bulletin September 2010

"If your wallet goes missing, here's what to do:

  • immediately call all your credit card companies to request an "account number change."
  • change passwords to ensure that your account can't be opened by an identity thief.
  • file a report with the police
  • request a fraud alert be put on the credit accounts
  • ask the DMV to put a "flag" on your license file.
  • notify your bank.
  • check your credit history about two weeks later.

What should I shred, and when?

From the AARP September 2010 Bulletin

"Shred everything with your signature, birth date, Social Security number, account numbers, passwords or PINs. When? Shred credit card statements after 45 days unless you need them for proof of purchase or for tax purposes. Shred bank deposit slips and ATM and credit card receipts as soon as the transactions appear on statements. Shred bank statements, pay stubs and medical bills after one year. Save indefinitely any paperwork that is related to taxes, mortgage payments, improvements on your home, and medical and prescription records."

Our house

This is the year my husband and I decided to upgrade some stuff in and around our house. First, I bought myself a new vehicle -- a 2010 Subaru Outback -- steel grey with black interior. Very nice. We decided to keep our Ford Explorer so we have three vehicles. We now have to make room in the garage in the 3rd bay which now houses a golf cart. Don't ask.
We had the counters in the kitchen replaced with granite and put in stainless steel appliances. The latest was a new microwave. Have also been working on the landscape of the yard. And now, since we have a cedar sided house, we have just accepted a bid to clean and stain the siding. We looked into replacing the siding, but that's just out of the question.
