Well, I'm back in the MO craft show circuit. What started out as an interest in desert plants, cactus and succulents, has turned into an obsession. I've created about 30 dish gardens and need to sell some of them. The only practical way is a craft show. I've been accepted into 3.

Dear F-M Alumni,

A belated thank you to all the “F-Mers” who remembered me on my 90^th birthday! You can’t imagine how much I appreciated them. Perhaps you won’t believe this but I did recognize each and every name. I’ve always been able to retain names, and it meant a lot to me to recognize each and every one of yours.

Marilyn, my wife of nearly 67 years, and I are now living at Maple Downs, an independent retirement community. She is wheelchair- bound so trying to live in our house was no longer practical.

Our oldest son, David, with his wife Daryll (Fitch) still live in Fayetteville, as do three of their grown daughters and six of their grandchildren. It helps to have them near.

Let me share an aside. I came to teach at Fayetteville in 1948 and retired in 1983. David became principal at Wellwood Middle School in F-M in 1981 and spent 20 years there. He retired (or tried to)in 2001. Father Yeazel, the pastor at Holy Cross, talked him into becoming the principal at Holy Cross School in Dewitt. Though it was supposed to be a “retirement job,” it turned out to be a 10 year stint. They both (D&D) retired (Daryll from staff development at OCMBOCES) on June 30^th, 2012. Meanwhile, one of their daughters, Elizabeth (Biz), was appointed to the English department at the High School where she is now in her 11^th year. That adds up to 64 straight continuous years that a Wheeler has been a teacher or administrator at FM. I’m kind of proud of that.

Again, thank you all so much for the kind remarks, recollections, thoughts, and best wishes. It is very comforting to me to revisit your notes and cards from time to time.

Mary Pat and Ted Northrup invited me on the Order of Malta Lourdes Pilgrimage May 2 - 9th.

I had to apply and fill out many pages of information regarding my health and have Dr's. permission to be healthy enough to travel to France. I had interviews with Dr's from the Order of Malta and other interviews. It was quite a process!!!

The Order of Malta is a huge organization with many applications from all over, they can only accept 40 people and have a charter plane that leaves out of Baltimore, Md

Mary Pat and Ted came to visit last week and brought me wonderful news that I had been accepted to go on this beautiful pilgrimage!!!!!!!!!! Peter,Mary Pat and Ted will be accompanying me!!! Can't wait to see Ted in his uniform!!!

WOW, I was so honored to be asked and now that I have been accepted it gives me goose bumps!!!!!What a wonderful opportunity and a wonderfully rich experience!!!

I want to thank Kathy Hixon and Jody Murphy for getting all of you to pray for me this month, that also gave me goose bumps what wonderful friends, I am blessed!!!!!!!!Thank you all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The good news is I have had my Pet scan and MRI's my cancer has not shrunk but it has not grown!!!!! I am on Chemo vacation right now and working on my neuropothy in both feet and up my left leg......I have stenosis in my spine all of which working with a physical therapist, ,working out (Pilate's for balance)and eating properly hope to have this gone in 6 mo to a year.....about the time it will take my hair to grow!!!!!!!!!!!

Just want to make you aware of a really wonderful item -- the Kodak  P461 Personal Photo Scanner. You can scan photos, slides, mounted and strips and scan them on to a memory card or directly to you PC.
