(Died January 27, 2012) Etta M. Hayes (nee Ebeling) died on January 27th at the home of her daughter in East Amherst. Mrs. Hayes was a lifelong resident of Fayetteville and served as the stenographer to the Senior Principal at Fayetteville-Manlius High School for many decades, retiring in 1985. A member of the United Church of Fayetteville, she served as organist there for a time, and delighted in accompanying seniors at the Fayetteville Senior Center for song fests in her later years. She was the wife of the late Irving S. Hayes and the late James F. McDermott. She is survived by her son, Thomas J. (Suzie) Hayes of Cazenovia and North Carolina; her daughter, Mary Lou (Anselm) George of East Amherst; six grandsons; one granddaughter; two great grandchildren; four nieces; one nephew; numerous cousins and other relatives and many dear friends.
