Larry English

Spent the weekend in cloudy Ithaca New York attending my daughter Lindsey’s graduation from Ithaca College. Despite the cloudy weather we had a wonderful time. My son Justin flew in from Durham, he had a lab staff meeting to attend late Friday afternoon so he did not get to the Statler Hotel on Cornell campus until 12:45 am. Pretty late for an old guy. I left my car at the airport in Syracuse for him for the drive down. We had a beautiful Tower Suite at the Statler Hotel, if anyone is staying in the Ithaca area I can highly recommend the Statler, it is top notch. Had breakfast in the suite on Saturday, then headed out for a day of winery tours and hiking at Taughannock Falls State Park, had a picnic dinner along the shores of Cayuga Lake, spent the evening touring various “hot” spots in Collegetown, which is a small community of shops, stores, restaurants and the like just outside the Cornell campus.

Graduation was Sunday, while it did not rain it was so cloudy that it was hard to get pictures. Nicely staged event that went off exactly as planned. Having attended the huge Cornell graduation for my son in 2007, this was a very nice smaller version. Had a nice dinner, then back to Manlius at 10:45 PM and crashed. Took my son back to the airport at 5:45 AM. Long weekend, but a wonderful one. Last college graduation for my family, nice raise for Dad.
