You have certainly put in a great deal of good work on the blog. It's nice to stay in touch with old friends. ...
My eldest son & I are just putting in the finishing touches on a second studio here in Clayton (in the Thousand Islands). This enables me to work from my summer cottage and saves me from having to drive the 150 miles or so to Rochester for recording sessions. It's a dream come true.
We're also in the planning stages for expansion and renovations on the cottage my wife inherited from her mother. Finding a reputable contractor is the greatest challenge. But this is one of those "nice" problems to have. We're not facing illness, or other unpleasant circumstances. I really am very grateful for all of our blessings.
Summer is speeding by at light speed (as always)..as Jill & I are approaching our 25th wedding anniversary in September. We may take a trip to commemorate the big day. Maybe the Outer Banks.

Debby, you are bringing back wonderful memories. The names with the faces are great. I live in Leawood, Kansas. Married 35 years with three grown children. I read all the messages and could not figure out who lives in Columbia, Mo. I would love to be included in that next lunch or dinner between Columbia and St. Louis. I am trying to figure out how to answer your blog and send a picture.

You are wonderful for doing this, it must take hours.

Hi Debby-

I've not been silent, just busy! I work (and live at) a 5-star RV Resort here in Mesa, and we're gearing up for our winter season which officially starts December 1st. For the past 2 1/2 years I was the Activity Director which was unbelievably hard work but unbelievably fun at the same time. This season I switched jobs and I'm now the office manager which is not hard, but is unbelievably dull. As Activity Director, I found to my surprise that I have a talent for organizing and directing events and entertainment, and for speaking to large numbers of people. Go figure-I'm a ham at heart, especially with a microphone in my hand! Office work is just not my thing, I guess.

If you've never heard of an RV Resort, take a look at the company website http://www.cal-am.com/ and navigate to Sun Life RV Resort. We're small as resorts go, only about 760 sites with about 500 snowbirds who own a Resort Home (400 sq. ft. Park model trailer), and the remaining sites reserved by snowbirds who travel in their RVs. It's great living in the winter-the resort has outstanding amenities, but we get kind of toasty in the summer!

This is also the time when Larry and I gear up for the busy time with our card company Funny Bones slightly silly greeting cards. It's 16 years old, and our niche market is purebred dog owners. Right now we have cards for 21 breeds. I've done all the art and we print the cards here at home. Our website is http://www.funnybonescards.com/. We also have a line of cards that we're currently developing that is quite different because they are photographic and photo-digital art cards. Larry was a professional photographer and our son Matt has taken quite a few of the images we've used. I write the verses and do the digital dark room work in Photoshop. That little company is called Will Davis Studios and if you'd like to see some of the cards they are at www.greetingcarduniverse.com/willdavisstudios. The Will Davis cards are printed and shipped to our customers by Greeting Card Universe. By the end of October we should also have Will Davis and Funny Bones tote bags, mugs, tee shirts, etc. ready to go...I just need a few more hours in the day!

I hope this isn't perceived as shameless self-promotion! It's just what I do. When I read of some of our classmates' accomplishments, what I've done seems pretty trivial! I worked in advertising and publishing for most of my career, and needless to say, you don't get famous designing text books for adult literacy.

I'll make a visit to the website and catch up on things. By the way, the Memorial blog is very moving. Everyone is freeze-framed in my memories at 17 or 18, and knowing that some of us are already gone is sobering. And thank you again for all the work you have done keeping us connected. I'll try to take a more active role after the 1st of the year when Christmas is over and our card sales slow down.

Comment on legal issue

Hi Debby,
I would seriously doubt, or at least sincerely hope, that no one is posting information to this forum for the purpose of monetary compensation or literary accolades. Maybe I'm being niave here, but I would rather hope that people are just trying to reconnect with folks that that they have not spoken to or been in contact with, for many years, and offer a little slice of their lives. Lots and lots of years have gone by, and most of us have not seen each other since the parties back in June of 1966. How about just for once in this day and age, we treat this venue for what it is and leave all the legalities out of it. I'm getting so sick and tired of being lawyered to death. And by the way, you have my permission to publish this and all other information I may deem to post to this blog in the future. 'Nuff said. Take care.

Anita Cottrell to visit St. Louis

Anita Cottrell will be in St. Louis for a conference the week of 10/9. On Sunday 10/14, Melinda Mussi Lockwood and I will meet up with Anita for a mini reunion of sorts. Charlene Owens MacGuire has also been invited but it's a pretty long way from Kansas City.

Regarding your questions about yearbooks and copyright, neither our yearbook advisor nor I, are aware of copyrights attached to copies of the "Oakleaves." Building a website for your graduating class sounds like a good idea as does the use of photos from "Oakleaves."

"... It really does seem like yesterday when we were all so young and supple and full of hope and enthusiasm. And, despite the ravages of time that may have lined our foreheads and “redistributed” our physiques, if we’ve been a little bit wise and a lot lucky, we have only grown wiser, luckier, and more appreciative of those few short years we had together at F-M that left such an indelible impression on each of us.
Seeing so many of our classmates at last summer’s 40th reunion was a genuine pleasure for me. If you were there, you probably understand. If you missed it, we sure hope to see you at the next one in 2011 where it will again be obvious: As a group, we may not be getting thinner or younger, but we’re definitely getting better.
Finally, speaking of “The Unbearable Lightness of Being,” here are a couple of pictures of my wife Marsha and me enjoying a “weightless” flight experience with several friends this past spring. (Marsha is the smiling blonde in the foreground clapping her hands; I’m the graying geek trying hard to look like Superman). We highly recommend zero gravity. It reminds you to tread lightly on the Earth and enjoy every day. "

Al Clute is Alive and Well

There seems to have been a massive error. Al Clute is alive and well and should not be apart of the memorial site. John Visser thought he had made that clear at the reunion but evidently that information was never implemented. Thank goodness John read and replied to my email. He says that Al is in fact moving back to Syracuse to run the presses for the Eagle Bulletin. Apologies Al for thinking otherwise.

SpotSavers Dalmatian Assistance League of St. Louis

SpotSavers is dedicated to finding loving new homes for Dalmatians in need. My dog Savana is on the left and she is a rescue from a year ago. This is a picutre of volunteers this past Saturday at a local Petco to spread the word about rescue and to raise money.

I'm busier than the proverbial one-armed paperhanger. attached foto is latest, got 2 windows installed today; not bad for a kid. Have 2 guys from a contractor and I really have to bust my hump to keep up with them. Soon as I get done, I'm outta here. They just quit for the day, which means I get to work second shift by myself. Lucky me, but I'm getting panicked.

Mind your manners: Try to start off with a salutation and end with a sign-off like best or regards.
